We took the free architecture tour (every Sat. 4:30pm) of this building. It's an art deco classic, designed and built in 1933 as a post office in a pre-New Deal depression era work program.

This is Florida's first state forest, purchased in 1936. It was our first long hike (~10 miles) since November. Felt good to be back at it.

Yr 2: Day 32: Breaking the Sugar Fast!

Curt started the year with a 30-day sugar fast and wasted no time going to the donut shop across the street when it ended today! Donuts, 70 degrees, sunshine, and the sea — not a bad way to start the day!

We tend to judge state parks using the "Oregon scale"...most are not nearly as nice as those found in that PNW state. But we gotta give it to St. Andrew's....free, hot and clean showers!!...and plenty of sites with a direct view of the water.

Between Panama City Beach (where we are) and Destin along county road 30A there are a fair number of tony planned communities...you kinda feel like you are driving through a movie set. What's great for us is there are loads of state parks nearby. We can live large without paying the price!

Thousandst came out downtown in support and protest of our 45th president. We chose to join in a slightly less crowded, but no less, spirited, protest.
