March: Tuscon, AZ
Our time in Tucson will be limited to just 4 weeks...so we will have to work quickly. If you have any suggestions, we'd love to hear them!
Weather
- Avg Temperature: Avg High 73F/ Avg Low 45F

Internet
We are hoping to have excellent internet access in Tucson. The intermittent service in Joshua Tree was becoming frustrating.
Food
We are excited to try Zemam’s, an Ethiopian restaurant, which has as an excellent reputation. We haven’t had great Ethiopian food since leaving Richmond, VA. (Shout out to The Nile!) We figure we should also be able to get some good Mexican eats – and are looking forward to additional veggie options!
Where we are staying
Vista Del Monte neighborhood.
What we are excited about
Warm desert sun and a more metropolitan setting than Yucca Valley, where we can get Wendy’s camera fixed, get some new hiking boots, and get our hair cut!
Saguaro National Park We are staying 14 miles from the park entrance and planning to spend lots of time learning more about our nation’s largest cacti. We may even become “citizen scientists” and join in the Centennial Sagauro Survey!
Chiricahua National Park The park promises over 17 miles of hiking in a “wonderland of rocks”. We obviously have a rock fetish. We were inspired to visit this park by some amazing Instagram pics.
Kitt Peak National Observatory Kitt Peak National Observatory (KPNO) operates three major nighttime telescopes and is home to the largest array of optical and radio telescopes in the World. We have booked a night with their Observing Program; we will "experience the night sky with professional astronomers" from Kitt Peak.
San Xavier Mission A National Historic Landmark, San Xavier Mission is the oldest intact European structure in Arizona. It was completed in 1797, as part of a Catholic mission started in the area in the late 17th century. We are looking forward to checking out the murals.
