Our favorite photos of July

We rounded out four months in the Four Corners, with a stay in Cortez, CO in July.   As has been true every place we've gone, there's a lot in the area we didn't get to see.  But here's some of the favorite photos from what we did see.

Over July 4th weekend, the Lomayestewa Family of Shungopovi Village, Second Mesa, Arizona (Hopi) performed traditional dances in Mesa Verde National Park

Cliff Palace, Mesa Verde National Park.  One of hundreds of shots we took, trying to capture the beauty and technical prowess of the Ancient Pueblo people.  The Twilight Photo tour on which this photos was taken, was one of the highlights of our entire trip!

Tourret Arch, Arches National Park

Big clouds and farm animals are a natural part of the scenery around Cortez, CO.

Canyonlands National Park.  Vertical fractures in the sandstone caused various types of erosion. Some of the pinnacles of sandstone are up to 300 ft high!

Somehow, you feel both big and small exploring Canyon of the Ancients. (Sand Canyon)

The difference between irrigated and non-irrigated areas...just a few miles apart...is stark.  (Road G, Cortez, CO).

Our neighbor down Road 25 invited us to take photos on his small farm. it was A TREAT!

August has us in Marfa, TX a quirky town of 2,200 people, near Big Bend National Park.  Then back to more familiar stomping grounds (for us at least) in the Southeast!
